Stitching the Slow Life of Bali

Ever feel like your life is a project with a dropped stitch?

Before this trip, I was completely overwhelmed. Balancing a demanding schedule and life’s endless complications had me struggling to maintain a positive outlook. I wasn’t just tired; I was unravelling.

When my company’s Wellness Day aligned perfectly with a string of non-working holidays back home in the Philippines, I knew it was my sign. I didn’t just want a vacation—I longed for Bali. It was the one thing keeping me sane.

I went looking for a simple break, but I came home with something much better: a romanticized, beautifully slowed-down perspective on life.

The Roam: Learning to Slow the Pace

The very first thing I noticed about Bali was the rhythm. Even amidst daily struggles, the local people stay incredibly steady. No one is rushing. They work with genuine smiles, serve with gratitude, and help without expecting a single thing in return.

Watching them, I had to stop and ask myself some hard questions:

  • Am I living my life TOO intensely?
  • Am I rushing through the chapters?
  • Do I want too many things to happen too soon?

It turns out, trying to knit the whole blanket in one night is exactly why I was so overwhelmed.

The Side Quest: Sensory Highlights

To find my balance, I split my time between chasing epic views and sinking into the local culture. If you’re planning your own Bali itinerary, these are the ultimate, must-see spots:

📸 The Photo Spots

Nusa Penida: Hands down, the best beach views you will ever witness.

Swing Haven: The absolute sweet spot for perfect nature photos.

Lempuyang Temple: The most iconic, breathtaking backdrop for capturing the true essence of Bali’s culture.

🌅 The Culture

Kecak Fire Dance: An incredible cultural show set right against the sunset. (Bonus magic: Someone actually got engaged during the show while I was there!)

The Food? Absolute Bomb. 🔥

You can’t roam without fueling up, and Indonesian cuisine completely delivered. Here is what you cannot miss:

  • Sushi Hiro: The Wagyu beef and Sushi Tower are to die for. I honestly can’t believe this chain isn’t anywhere else outside of Indonesia yet!
  • Babi Guling: Think of it as Indonesia’s take on Philippines’ classic lechon. Pure comfort food.
  • Local Coffee Plantation: A fantastic experience where you get to taste completely different kinds of locally produced coffee.
  • Nasi Goreng: You are in the ultimate land of Mi- and Nasi Gorengs. It’s a mandatory, everyday must-try.

The Final Stitch

Bali taught me that you don’t always have to be moving fast to make progress. Sometimes, the best thing you can do for your life’s design is to pause, appreciate the texture of the present moment, and slowly stitch your peace back together.

You can balance the hustle and healing, too! Check out the full 2-page digital itinerary in my shop: https://stitchandroam.gumroad.com/l/slowbaliliving
